A park for everyone
The Friends of Parish Park is a neighbourhood initiative to restore, enrich and safeguard Parish Park — Constantia's cherished open space at the corner of South Cross Drive and Parish Road.
Parish Park has long been the green heart of Silverhurst — a place where children play, families gather, and the neighbourhood breathes. The Friends of Parish Park (FoPP) is a community-led, non-profit association formed to protect, enhance and actively care for this shared space in partnership with the City of Cape Town.
Open to anyone who shares our values, FoPP brings together residents, parents, local businesses and park users under one roof — united by a simple belief that great public spaces don't happen by accident.
FoPP is guided by a clear constitution and three core commitments — to the park, to the community, and to the future.
We safeguard Parish Park against degradation and neglect — promoting awareness of its environmental, historical and social significance for the entire neighbourhood.
We organise activities, projects and improvements that make the park a more vibrant, safe and enjoyable destination for children and families of all ages.
We give regular park users a voice — engaging with the City of Cape Town and other stakeholders to make sure community interests are heard and respected.
After years of wear, Parish Park is getting the attention it deserves. The neighbourhood has come together to plan and fund a meaningful upgrade — one that honours the park's character while making it safer, more accessible and more enjoyable for the next generation.
This is a community project in the truest sense: driven by residents, supported by donations, and guided by the vision of the people who love this park most.
